Next President of Suriname

The 2025 Surinamese general election will be held on May 25, 2025, to elect members of the National Assembly of Suriname. Suriname’s president is chosen indirectly: first by a two-thirds majority vote in the National Assembly; if no candidate reaches that threshold after two rounds, the election moves to the United People’s Assembly, where a simple majority is sufficient. This market will resolve according to the next President of Suriname following the election. Any interim or caretaker President will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no next President of Suriname is instated by February 28, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other." This market will resolve based on a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on official information from the Surinamese government.
